The Girl Who Carries the Storm

$375.00

An Original Mixed-Media Relief & Meditation Artwork

The Umbrella Girls Collection | Purple Inkwell Studios

Some storms never touch the ground.

At the edge of a small, illustrated world stands a girl beneath an umbrella.

Around her, another world has formed.

Metallic spirals fold into one another. Copper and bronze rise from deep pools of blue. Hundreds of sculpted forms gather, overlap, and press against their boundaries. Within the intricate relief, quiet fragments of sky remain visible: two solitary balloons, a suggestion of distant light, a girl who seems almost swallowed by everything surrounding her.

Nothing in the composition is entirely still.

And yet, there is a peculiar quietness to it.

The Girl Who Carries the Storm is a one-of-a-kind, dimensional mixed-media artwork by April Martin, exploring anxiety, invisible emotional burdens, and the complicated relationship between holding on and letting go.

The work invites an intimate kind of looking. Its raised surfaces cast shifting shadows, while metallic finishes change with the movement of natural light. Details emerge slowly, revealing themselves through repeated observation.

Created as both an original wall-hung artwork and a personal meditation piece, it can be brought down, rested in the lap, and contemplated at close range.

There is no prescribed way to experience it.

No answer hidden among the spirals.

Only an invitation to notice what draws your attention, where your thoughts wander, and what you discover in returning.

Because sometimes the most meaningful thing art can offer is not an escape from what we carry, but a place to acknowledge it.
