Private Gatherings / Retreats / Meaningful Celebrations

Make the Gathering Unforgettable.

Some of the loveliest memories are the ones we create together. Bring The Art of Zen to a special gathering and give your guests an experience that becomes something beautiful to keep.

Imagine the Experience

More Than an Afternoon Together.

Imagine a table prepared with little wooden panels, beautiful pigments, sculpting materials, and the promise of something wonderfully unexpected. Friends gather, stories are shared, and each person begins creating a world entirely their own.

Some guests might create flowing spirals and rich metallic textures. Others might sculpt a little landscape, an imaginary garden, or symbols that remind them of someone they love.

When the gathering is over, the experience doesn't have to end. Each participant has created an original artwork that, once fully cured, can be displayed and revisited—a personal reminder of the time spent creating together.

01 / Celebrate

Milestones & Meaningful Occasions

Add something unexpected to a birthday celebration, reunion, bridal gathering, or special occasion. Instead of another ordinary party activity, invite guests to make something beautiful that becomes a keepsake of your time together.

02 / Reconnect

Retreats & Reflective Gatherings

Give retreat participants an inviting creative experience centered on slow observation, artistic exploration, and personal expression. Each guest creates a small sculpted artwork they can return to after the retreat has ended.

03 / Gather

Friends, Clubs & Community Groups

Bring together friends, creative groups, and community members for an experience that welcomes both beginners and experienced makers. Work alongside one another, explore new materials, and enjoy the surprises that come with creating something original.

04 / Connect

Creative Team Experiences

Offer your group a creative alternative to traditional team-building activities. Through texture, composition, color, and imaginative design, participants can enjoy making individual artworks in a welcoming, collaborative setting.

A Private Experience / Thoughtfully Planned

Let's Create Something Special for Your Gathering.

Whether you're organizing an intimate celebration, hosting a retreat, or planning a memorable group experience, The Art of Zen can be discussed as a private workshop offering.

We'll consider the number of participants, available space, timing, materials, and the character of your occasion to determine a suitable format.

Private events are arranged by inquiry and are subject to availability, suitable venue conditions, materials-safety requirements, and group size. Resin-clay artworks require additional curing time after sculpting.

Questions Before You Begin?

A Few Helpful Answers.

Do I need artistic experience?

Not at all. Both experiences are designed to welcome beginners and those who already enjoy creating art. You'll receive guidance and demonstrations throughout the process.

Are all materials included?

Yes. Your wood panel, sculpting clay, pigment powders, tools, paints, protective materials, and other required project supplies are included.

What's the difference between the workshop and the class?

The three-hour workshop focuses on creating a smaller 6 × 6-inch artwork during one guided experience. The four-week class uses a larger 8 × 8-inch panel and allows more time for sculpting, composition, pigment techniques, and finishing.

Can I book this experience for a private event?

Private group workshops may be arranged for suitable gatherings, retreats, celebrations, and creative events. Please contact Purple Inkwell Studios to discuss group size, location, availability, materials, and your preferred experience.

Can the workshop take place at my event venue?

This can be discussed during your inquiry. Any hosted location must provide appropriate space, safe working conditions, and facilities suitable for the materials and number of participants.

Will my artwork be fully cured before I leave?

Workshop artwork may still be curing when the session ends. You'll receive instructions for appropriate handling, transportation or collection, and remaining cure time. The four-week course allows curing between sessions.

Can everyone create a different design?

Absolutely. The creative process encourages individual expression. Participants can select personal symbols, explore abstract designs, or create entirely imaginative compositions. Every finished artwork will be unique.

Do I have to create something personal or emotional?

No. Your artwork can be inspired by a memory, a favorite place, an abstract pattern, nature, or something entirely imaginary. You choose how much personal meaning to include or share.

Is this a formal Zen meditation class?

The Art of Zen is a creative art experience inspired by mindfulness, slow observation, and the pleasure of making something by hand. It is not formal Buddhist Zen instruction or a therapeutic treatment.

How do I find out about upcoming dates?

Contact Purple Inkwell Studios through the studio contact page. Upcoming sessions, locations, tuition, and registration details will be announced when confirmed.

The Artwork That Inspired the Experience

The Girl Who Carries the Storm.

The Art of Zen draws inspiration from my original mixed-media meditation artwork, The Girl Who Carries the Storm.

Created on wood panel with dimensional resin clay, layered pigments, and meaningful symbolism, the piece explores anxiety, imagination, and the possibilities of getting lost in a story.

In these classes, you won't be copying my artwork. You'll discover how to create your own sculpted world.
