Behind the Work

The finished piece doesn't begin finished.

Sketches, rough compositions, false starts, changes and discoveries are all part of the work. This is where the making of the finished artwork lives.

You don't need a finished concept.

A character, a photograph, a memory, a few sentences, a favorite story, or one strange idea is enough to begin. Bring me what you have. We can build the rest together.

Commissioning

You bring the idea. I'll make the strange thing.

Tell me the idea.

Character, pet, memory, scene, story or something difficult to describe.

We shape it.

We settle on the concept, composition, direction, details and final price.

Reserve the project.

A 50% nonrefundable deposit reserves the commission and your place in the schedule.

I make it.

After the concept is approved, I create the final original and prepare it for shipping.

Before You Commission

A few things worth knowing.

Deposit

A 50% nonrefundable deposit is required to reserve your commission.

Final Balance

The remaining balance is due before the completed artwork is shipped.

Concept Approval

You will have an opportunity to approve the concept before final artwork begins.

Revisions

Major changes requested after the approved concept may require an additional fee.

Shipping

U.S. shipping only. Christmas commissions are scheduled to ship by December 8.

Delivery Timing

Artwork is scheduled with Christmas delivery in mind, but carrier delays after shipment are outside the studio's control.

Frequently Asked

Can I send reference photographs?

Yes. Reference photographs, character images, written descriptions, color ideas, screenshots, and visual inspiration can all help communicate what you have in mind.

Do you create realistic portraits?

Portrait commissions are created in an illustrated, comic-inspired style rather than photorealistic realism.

Can I commission a pet?

Yes. Pets can be illustrated on their own, with their person, or transformed into something more imaginative depending on the concept.

What if my idea doesn't look like anything shown here?

Ask anyway. The gallery shows range rather than a fixed menu of styles. If the project fits what I can do well, we can develop the direction together.

What should I send when I inquire?

Tell me what you would like illustrated, whether you are interested in the original illustration or one-page comic option, and anything important about the character, person, pet, scene, or story. Reference images are welcome.
